Local Information

Experience the UNESCO World Heritage City
The main sights of Split are conveniently concentrated within a fairly small area, making it very easy to explore! How many cities do you know that have a Roman palace built into the very heart of its old town? Diocletian’s sprawling palace is not only one of the best-preserved Roman buildings in the world, it’s also host to numerous restaurants, boutiques and charismatic homes.

Come and feel the magic yourself!

The majority of the most important and most historic landmarks in Split are located within the World Heritage Site of Diocletian’s Palace, which is of epic proportions and packed with tourist appeal. Here you can explore the 12th-century Cathedral of St. Domnius, the ruined Northern Palace Gate, the Papalic Palace and its attractive courtyard, and the Temple of Jupiter.

Split Museums

You should certainly prioritise some time so that you can visit the most appealing museum, perhaps choosing between the Archaeological Museum – founded in 1820 and packed with relics, the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments – offering in-depth information about the past rulers of Croatia, and the Town Museum – located within the Papalic Palace at Diocletian’s Palace, Science Museum and Zoo on Marjan Hill, Ivan Mestrovic Gallery or the Gallery of Fine Arts.

Split isn’t just a history buff’s dream. For those of you who like your cities with some style and sophistication you’ll love the palm-lined Riva waterfront, with its designer shops, stylish cafes and bars as far as the eye can see.
Then there are the beautiful Dalmatian islands to choose from, and with more than 15 lying within easy reach of Split, the choice is literally yours.
